Helpful computer hints you should know.

    

One of the most helpful, ( and most frequently used), things your computer can do for you is to help you copy text or images and paste them into your sofware, where you can create a file, or send in am e-mail.

Select, then act.

For text, Notepad, Microsoft Word or other text editing software can be used to Paste your information into. There, it can be Saved, Printed, or E-mailed.

To select text, click and drag your mouse over the desired text.

Ctrl C = Edit / Copy = Right-Click / Copy

Either of these actions copy the selected text into computer memory. The text will stay in memory until you do something with it or until it is over-written by another copy operation.

For images, Microsoft Paint, PhotoShop or other image editing software can be used to Paste your information into. There, it can be Saved, Printed, or E-mailed.

To select an image, right-click on the image.

Copy from - Paste to.

Your must Paste your selected information into some software program and Save it for it to be useful later.

To Copy your Screen as an image, press the Prt Scr button on your keyboard.

Full Screen or NOT Full Screen

Double clicking on a windows Title Bar toggles between the two.
Try it.

Double click the Title bar above:
Repeat to see toggle effect.
Click and Drag the Title bar to see windows below. (when window is not in Full Screen mode)

Search is your friend.

Click Start / Search to find files.

Files that you may have forgotten where you placed them can be found with Search.

Looking for a Word document - search *.doc

Looking for a Excel document - search *.xls

Looking for a file starting with ch - search ch*

Looking for a file ending with ch - search *ch

Looking for a ending with ch somewhere in the file - search *ch*
