| Bible Study - Psalms 1, Verses 2-3 | Preacher Man says: | ||||
| But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. | |||||
| And he shall be | Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2 | ||||
| like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; | This is a tree that has a good water supply and the constant care of a gardener. Growing and then being groomed so it can grow more. | ||||
| his leaf also shall not wither | Notice that the leaves are not withering away. We all want to be prosperous. But we all have seasons were we do not see the fruit, the results. In those times it would be easy to be discouraged. But I keep thinking about the phrase his leaf also shall not wither. As if to say that even though there is no fruit you still can see life in the tree because the leaves are not withering. Now I am not taking away from the fact that we need to bare fruit, results. | ||||
| and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. | Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:8 | ||||
| For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Hebrew 10:36 | But are we so wrapped up in instant results and physical proof that we miss the point that we are to be patient. | ||||
| And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal 6:9 | There are times it seems that we have no growth in our lives. In those times it is easy to get discouraged and doubt that we are doing the right thing. But we cannot put to much stock in daily events. It is like watching a plant develop. It takes time for relationships to grow or to find a job. But if we hold the line so to speak in the long haul things get better. As sure as a plant grows we shall prosper if we stay grounded. God is a very patient God and so His children must learn to be. | ||||
| I think in this society of fast food and instant messaging we can lose sight of the fact growth takes time. You cannot rush a harvest. | |||||
| 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4 |

| Just as a young sapling cannot bear the best and biggest fruit without breaking it's branches. So it is that we must be groomed. Dead branches must be cut off and growth must be there so that we can be strong enough to bear the fruit. | |||||
